Junior secondary is a phase of education at
Charters Towers High School for students in Years 7, 8 and 9, which ensures the
seamless transition between the primary and secondary school phases in
education. Junior secondary focuses on age-appropriate education, and support
for students’ wellbeing.
Junior
Secondary teachers
Teachers at Charters Towers SHS are committed to
providing your child with the best possible education in a safe, caring and
supportive environment. Students are encouraged and supported by the dedicated enthusiastic
staff to fully engage in all parts of school life and to pursue their personal
best effort in every situation.
Our Junior secondary teachers work very hard to
provide unique learning environments designed to specifically respond to the
needs of young adolescents academically, physically, socially and emotionally
throughout Years 7, 8 and 9.
Junior Secondary learning
We specifically tailor our learning programs to
meet the needs and interests of adolescents as they progress through their
education. A broad curriculum derived from the Australian Curriculum is offered
to cater to the interests and needs of all learners in Junior secondary.
Junior
Secondary wellbeing and transitions
A distinctive feature of Junior Secondary is the
strong emphasis on student welfare, and fostering the essential relationships
between home and school in pursuing the best outcomes for students.
The natural flow from one year to the next, and
the supportive environment we provide, enables students to make a smooth
transition from the primary classroom to a more complex and challenging
environment of Charters Towers State High School’s Senior School.

Senior
subject selections
Subject selections are made after working
through the Education plan process that begins in Term 3 Year 7 and culminates
in Year 10 with the SET-P Process. Students and their parents should consider
the prerequisites of senior subjects during the process to ensure acceptance
into these subjects.
